Each year, the Amelia County Fair Association awards two (2) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to help local students continue their education at a college, university, or trade school.

This scholarship is part of our mission to invest in the future of Amelia County and to recognize students who show strong character, community spirit, and a commitment to growth.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following:

 

  • Applicant must be a resident of Amelia County

  • Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA or higher

  • Application must be completed in blue or black ink or typed

  • Applicant must submit two (2) letters of recommendation

  • Applicant must complete 16 volunteer hours with the Amelia County Fair Association

  • Applicant must submit an essay on one of the topics listed below

Essay Topics

Applicants must write an essay responding to one of the following prompts:

  1. What did you learn from your experiences volunteering at the fair?

  2. How do you plan to utilize the scholarship to further your education?

  3. What would you do (differently) if you oversaw the fair?

VOLUNTEER
REQUIREMENT

All scholarship applicants must complete 16 hours of volunteer service with the Amelia County Fair Association.

 

Volunteer opportunities may include (based on Fair needs):

  • Fair set-up + clean-up

  • Admissions or gate support

  • Exhibition Hall support

  • Hospitality or information booth support

  • General event support

Group Volunteering Activity

Scholarship Awards
  • Two scholarships awarded annually

  • $1,000 per scholarship

  • Scholarship checks are made payable to the recipient + the college/university/trade school

Deadline to Apply

Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2026

How Scholarship Funds Are Paid
How to Apply
  1. Download the scholarship application

  2. Complete the application (blue/black ink or typed)

  3. Collect two letters of recommendation

  4. Complete 16 volunteer hours with the Fair Association

  5. Write your essay (choose one topic above)

  6. Mail your completed packet by the postmark deadline

If awarded the scholarship:

  • The scholarship check will be made payable to the recipient and the college/university/trade school

  • Funds will be mailed after enrollment confirmation is received

  • Enrollment confirmation requires a copy of acceptance to a college, university, or trade school

The Miss Amelia County Fair Scholarship Program celebrates confidence, community involvement, and personal growth while providing meaningful financial support for young women pursuing their future goals. Through participation, contestants gain valuable experience in public speaking, leadership, and community engagement. Scholarship recipients are recognized not only for their achievements on stage, but also for their dedication to service and academic success, opening doors to continued education and new opportunities beyond the fair.
